Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has dismissed reports of a personal rift with the suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara. In an interview with BBC Pidgin, Wike referred to Fubara as his “son” and denied any direct conflict, saying his opposition is directed at those manipulating the governor for their own benefit.

Wike maintained that his fight is against individuals attempting to exploit political power without merit. He emphasized that these actors are using Fubara as a front, but that their defeat is inevitable. According to him, such political opportunists must be fully subdued to prevent them from gaining influence unjustly.
In a separate media session, Wike revealed that Fubara has initiated steps toward reconciliation, including a peace visit with two APC governors and an elder statesman. Wike affirmed his willingness to embrace peace, especially in light of President Tinubu’s repeated calls for unity and stability in Rivers State.
