The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has formally apologized to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) over recent critical comments made by its former presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

In a statement by NNPP’s National Secretary, Comrade Oginni Olaposi Sunday, the party described Kwankwaso’s remarks as reckless and unrepresentative, stressing that he no longer holds any position within the party.
Oginni clarified that the NNPP was founded by Dr. Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam in 2002 and that Kwankwaso, along with his allies, had been expelled following legal rulings by both the FCT High Court and Abia State High Court. These judgments reaffirmed the party’s legitimate leadership under Dr. Aniebonam and Dr. Agbo Gilbert Major. The party emphasized that Kwankwaso now only leads the Kwankwasia group and no longer has any authority to speak on behalf of NNPP.
The party urged the media and the public to stop referring to Kwankwaso as its leader, reiterating that his recent attacks on Tinubu were personal and not reflective of NNPP’s stance. The NNPP reaffirmed its commitment to national development through constructive opposition and distanced itself from divisive and confrontational politics.
