Security forces have initiated a rescue operation for Lt. Cynthia Akor, a Nigerian Navy officer attached to the Defence Headquarters, and two others who were kidnapped from their residence in Mpape, Federal Capital Territory, on Friday night.

Reports indicate that the kidnappers have contacted the victims’ families, demanding a ransom of N100 million. A security source, speaking anonymously, confirmed that a coordinated effort involving police officers and military personnel is underway to locate and rescue the hostages.
Efforts to obtain official statements from senior Defence Headquarters officials, including Maj. Gen. Markus Kangye and Brig. Gen. Tukur Gusau, were unsuccessful, as they had yet to respond to inquiries. Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, Josephine Adeh, stated that she was verifying the incident and would provide updates later.
Security agencies remain on high alert as the operation progresses, with authorities prioritizing a swift and safe resolution to the hostage situation.
