Paul, a 16-year-old student of Urban Secondary School in Owerri, has died barely 24 hours after undergoing surgery for a gunshot wound inflicted by a landlord. The teenager was shot in the waist on Monday after jumping over a fence to retrieve a football that had entered the property owner’s compound.
Paul was rushed to Specialist Hospital, Umuguma, where doctors discovered his bowel movements were obstructed, necessitating surgery. Despite initial hopes for recovery, his guardian, Jonathan Odikanwa, confirmed his death on Thursday. The landlord responsible for the shooting remains unidentified.
