Strengthening the Fight Against Corruption in Nigeria

Stakeholders at the 38th Anti-Corruption Situation Room in Abuja have called for sustained collaboration, ethical governance, and public engagement to combat corruption in Nigeria.

EFCC Chairman Olanipekun Olukoyede emphasized that governance should not be a means for personal wealth accumulation but a serious responsibility. He urged citizens to support anti-corruption efforts rather than defend individuals under investigation.

ICPC Chairman Musa Aliyu outlined a three-pronged approach—enforcement, prevention, and public enlightenment—to curb corruption. Nigerian Education Loan Fund Managing Director Akintunde Sawyerr advocated for technology-driven transparency to reduce corrupt practices.

Senior Advocate of Nigeria Femi Falana stressed the need to mobilize the public in the fight against corruption, while HEDA Chairman Olanrewaju Suraju highlighted the gap between anti-corruption laws and their implementation, calling for stronger political will and civil society involvement.
