Elon Musk’s AI company, xAI, has launched Grok 3, a powerful new chatbot aimed at competing with OpenAI’s ChatGPT and China’s DeepSeek. Grok 3 boasts 10 times the computational power of its predecessor and features self-correcting mechanisms to minimize misinformation. Initially, it will be available to Premium+ subscribers on X (formerly Twitter).
The launch coincides with Musk’s expanding political influence in the Trump administration, where he heads the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). His role in restructuring federal agencies has raised concerns about conflicts of interest, given his vast business empire.
Meanwhile, Musk’s rivalry with OpenAI co-founder Sam Altman continues to escalate, with OpenAI recently rejecting Musk’s $100 billion buyout offer. As AI competition intensifies globally, China’s DeepSeek R1 chatbot has also emerged as a formidable player, challenging U.S. dominance in the sector.
Amidst these developments, Musk’s xAI is seeking $10 billion in funding, potentially valuing the company at $75 billion, as he positions himself at the forefront of both AI innovation and government influence.
