Authorities in County Kildare have confiscated an estimated €5 million (£4 million) worth of cocaine, resulting in the arrest of two men.

On Wednesday, Irish police, known as gardaí, intercepted a vehicle and searched a residence in the Allenwood area. During the operation, approximately 72 kilograms of cocaine were uncovered.
The suspects, both in their 50s and 60s, are being detained at Kildare Garda Station on suspicion of aiding and promoting drug distribution for an organized crime network.
Assistant Commissioner Angela Willis of the Organized and Serious Crime unit described the operation as a major success in disrupting the supply of cocaine in Ireland. She reaffirmed law enforcement’s dedication to dismantling drug-related criminal enterprises that fuel violence, intimidation, and social harm across the country.
