Egypt Rejects Trump’s Gaza Relocation Plan, Proposes Alternative Reconstruction Vision

Egypt has announced its intention to present a “comprehensive vision” for rebuilding Gaza, ensuring Palestinians remain on their land.

This comes in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s controversial plan to take control of Gaza and relocate its population to Jordan, Egypt, and other locations an idea rejected by Arab nations and criticized by the UN as potentially illegal.

During a White House meeting with Jordan’s King Abdullah, Trump reiterated his proposal, claiming U.S. control of Gaza would bring stability. However, Abdullah reaffirmed Arab opposition to displacement, while Egypt’s President Sisi insisted Gaza’s reconstruction must not involve forced relocation. Egypt plans to discuss the issue at an upcoming Arab summit.

Meanwhile, Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu has threatened to resume attacks on Gaza if Hamas does not release hostages, heightening concerns over ongoing violence. Since October 2023, over 48,000 Gazans have been killed, with much of the territory devastated and its population repeatedly displaced.
