NDLEA and Oijefon Youth Council Sensitize Youths on Drug Abuse

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has revealed that approximately 14 million Nigerians are affected by drug addiction.

Speaking at a drug abuse awareness program in Ile Oluji/Oke-Igbo, Ondo State, Deputy Commander Yetunde Joyifous emphasized the harmful effects of drug consumption, particularly on young people. She stressed the importance of community partnerships in combating the crisis.

The event, organized by the Oijefon Youth Council, aimed to educate secondary school students on the dangers of drug abuse.

Council President Adedokun Adeyonu highlighted common reasons for drug use, such as peer pressure and emotional struggles, urging youths to seek healthier alternatives. The program also saw participation from the National Orientation Agency (NOA) and other stakeholders.
