The Anambra State government has sealed a shrine in Umuofor village, Okija, operated by self-proclaimed native doctor Ekene Igboegbueze, who allegedly promised super wealth to unsuspecting individuals. The crackdown followed numerous complaints from residents.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Security, Prince Ken Emeakai, stated that the operation violated Anambra’s Homeland Security Laws, leading to the confiscation of properties linked to the illicit practice. Authorities plan to conduct forensic examinations on items found in the shrine to determine further actions.
Chinenye Ihenko, Director of Operations for Agunechemba Security Outfit, warned against patronizing fake spiritual leaders, emphasizing their role in promoting a get-rich-quick mentality. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eradicating criminal activities and urged youths to pursue legal means of livelihood.
