The Federal Government has revealed that it has renamed the University of Abuja (UniAbuja)to Yakubu Gowon University.
The Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, shared the decision to State House correspondents on Monday, December 16, 2024, after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by President Bola Tinubu.
The decision to change the institution’s name was to honour Nigeria’s former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (rtd), who recently celebrated his 90th birthday.
Idris noted that the proposal would be sent to the National Assembly for formal approval.
