27 Defected Rivers Lawmakers Approached Court to Stop House of Assembly to Declare Their Seat Vacant

Twenty seven members of the Rivers State House of Assembly who defected to the All Progressive Congress (APC) today approached the federal High Court to stop INEC from conducting by-elections to replace them as lawmakers.

The lawmakers also urged the court to stopped the four member House of Assembly from declaring vacant the seat of the 27 APC Rivers Assembly Members.

In another development, the factional Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Honourable Martin Amaewhule has said the 27 lawmakers who defected to APC will be resolute no matter the attack by Governor Sim Fubara, because they have the mandate of Rivers people to be in the House.

Honourable Amaewhule made the vow yesterday, while addressing state delegates at the APC dedication service and stakeholders meeting held at the Port Harcourt Polo Club.

He disclosed that the lawmakers aba
ndoned PDP for APC because of the crisis in the party and as well the leadership style of President Bola Tinubu.
