17-Year-Old Boy Drowns in Kano Village Pond

A tragic incident occurred in Dandalama village, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State, where a 17-year-old boy named Lurwanu Suleiman drowned in an open pond. The unfortunate event happened on Tuesday afternoon, as confirmed by the Kano State Fire Service.

According to a statement released by the Fire Service’s Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, the agency received an emergency call at 12:54 p.m. from a resident named Malam Aminu Dandalama. In response, a rescue team was dispatched to the scene and arrived at about 1:25 p.m.

Upon arrival, the team recovered Suleiman’s body from the water, but he was already lifeless. His remains were later handed over to the Ward Head of Dandalama village, Alhaji Safiyan Usman, for further arrangements.

The exact cause of the drowning is still unknown, and an investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances that led to the tragic event. The incident has brought sadness to the local community, highlighting the dangers of open water bodies in rural areas.
