Achraf Hakimi Faces Up to 15 Years in Prison if Convicted of Rape

Paris Saint-Germain and Moroccan international defender, Achraf Hakimi, could face up to 15 years in prison if found guilty of rape, following a formal indictment request by French prosecutors.

According to Le Parisien, the Nanterre prosecutor’s office has asked for the case to proceed to the Hauts-de-Seine departmental criminal court. This move comes after more than a year of investigation into allegations made in early 2023.

The official indictment request, signed on August 1, signals a critical development in the case. Hakimi was initially charged on March 3, 2023, after an investigating judge formally accused him of rape. He was taken into custody at the time and placed under judicial supervision.

Despite the legal pressure, Hakimi has consistently denied the allegations and maintains his innocence. The 25-year-old former Real Madrid and Inter Milan player has continued to play for PSG throughout the investigation.

The court will now decide whether to move forward with a full criminal trial. If convicted, Hakimi could be sentenced to as much as 15 years behind bars under French law.
